Norman Cantrell, Registered Piano Technician, began his music instrument repair career by working as an apprentice with B. L. McCrary Pipe Organ Service in Oklahoma City in the fall of 1978. Norman worked for Mr. McCrary for three years and also spent two years as a music student at the University of Oklahoma.
In 1983, he moved to Dennison, TX and enrolled in Grayson County College in the Piano Tuning and Repair program offered there.
After graduating with honors in January of 1984, he moved back to Oklahoma City and established Cantrell’s Piano Clinic. In 1999 he relocated the business to Lawton, OK.
In 1986, Norman joined the Piano Technicians Guild, Inc. and in 1994, he passed the required examinations to become a Registered Piano Technician. Since that time he has volunteered in a variety of roles at the local, regional and national levels. In 2013 he was invited to be a guest lecturer at the International Association of Piano Builders and Technicians conference held in Hangzhou, China.
Cantrell's Piano Clinic has been in business for over 30 years.
He has been an instructor at PTG conventions in Providence, RI Chicago, IL Nashville, TN Reno and Las Vegas, NV Dallas, TX Houston, TX Arlington, VA Boston, MA and Kansas City, KS. In addition, he has had several articles published in the Piano Technicians Journal.
Currently, he provides piano service to a variety of clientele including individuals, schools, and churches. He is the head technician at Cameron University in Lawton. He is also part of the team that provides piano service for the Wanda Bass School of Music at Oklahoma City University. This All-Steinway School is noted as having one of the best music schools in the state of Oklahoma.
