In 1986, Norman joined the Piano Technicians Guild, Inc. and in 1994, he passed the required examinations to become a Registered Piano Technician. Since that time he has volunteered in a variety of roles at the local, regional and national levels from assisting in the RPT exams to serving on the Board of Directors. In 2013 he was invited to be a guest lecturer at the International Association of Piano Builders and Technicians conference held in Hangzhou, China. He has been recognized by his peers having received the Jimmy Gold Award from the South Central Regional Conference and the Member of Note award from PTG. In 2017 he was inducted into the Piano Technicians Guild Hall of Fame.

Norman's accomplishments

He has been an instructor at PTG conventions in over a dozen major cities across the United States. He has also had several articles published in the Piano Technicians Journal. Attending conventions and seminars has allowed him to develop an extensive network of piano service professionals from major piano rebuilding shops, factory technicians, and industry leaders from around the world. These links help give better service to his clientele by providing a wealth of information and expertise that can be consulted at any time to make your piano move to the next level of performance. In addition he has received factory piano service training at Steinway and Sons in New York City as well as at Mason & Hamlin Pianos in Haverhill, Massachusetts.

Norman's current activities and role

Currently, he provides piano service to a variety of clientele including individuals, schools, universities, and churches. He is the lead technician at Wanda Bass School of Music at Oklahoma City University. This All-Steinway School is noted as having one of the best music schools in the state of Oklahoma. He also provides service to Cameron University in Lawton, OK.
